project summary

short description

This amazing youth exchange project was designed as a follow up to ‘Spread the word, Sing with us (part 1)’ that took place earlier this year. Music is one of the tools/channels through which one can easily reach to people regardless the nationality, language spoken or cultural background. We as human beings tend to simplify and make our lives easier which is exactly the reason why we are flooded with ‘fast food music’ that numbs our senses, lacks meaningful foundation and has no educational nor useful effect regarding our needs and well-being.

‘Spread the word, Sing with us (part 2)’ brought 42 young people from 7 different countries to experience, share, learn and create by using music as a tool to channel their ideas. The project took place 3-11 September 2018 and the experience itself opened possibilities that even the creators did not expect, and the project started to grow itself and expand through the vision of participants.

testimonials

  • The project and the people were so inspiring, that I got back my truest, deepest motivation to improve my musical skills and myself.
    – Bíborka S.
  • “Once I arrived home after the project, I was astonished by such strong emotional feeling that I had which didn’t happen before. I guess it’s from its great inspiration and energy that naturally emit from each single musician in that magical vibe”
    – Steve L.

project recap video

the beginning…

The project started by getting to know each other activities, name games and energizers. The participants introduced team-building activities through which they started to become a whole. These activities contributed towards gradual creation of the dynamics within the group.

The Erasmus+ programme was discussed, with a strong accent on KA1 mobility of young people (youth exchanges, training course and EVS opportunities). The first evening was dedicated to musical-gastronomic cultural exchange where each participating country performed a typical song, and presented their typical food and drinks through a buffet.

workshops

The participants presented workshops that they had prepared before coming to the project. The topic of the project was firstly tackled by ‘Through the years’ workshop where the development of music over time was elaborated. The program continued with understanding the influence that music has on people, after which the participants learnt the basis of jamming, taught each other to play various instruments, prepared a cover version of a song and learnt how to write lyrics and melody and combine them together.

Jam Sessions

During the week, the participants hosted two international jamming sessions at Rocas café theatre and the city hostel in Esch-sur-Alzette. Inspired by the energy of our international group, a couple of local visitors made a step forward and took part in the jamming sessions.
